I 100% recommend Hometown Vet in Marshalltown for anything pet related!
When my puppy suddenly broke his femur one evening, I first reached out to two of the “big” veterinary clinics in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. One told me they were too busy, and the other could only apply a temporary splint because they didn’t have an orthopedic surgeon. I was devastated...until I called Hometown Vet in Marshalltown the very next morning. They gave me a same-day appointment, and Dr. Jacobson successfully repaired my puppy’s femur with surgery. He’s back to normal now thanks to them!
Later, my puppy developed an ear hematoma. The Waterloo clinic only drained it, which didn’t fix the problem. Once again, I turned to Hometown Vet, and Dr. Jacobson resolved the issue permanently.
The clinic is clean, the staff are warm and professional, costs are fair, and most importantly, the care is outstanding. I will continue to bring both my puppy and my cat here without hesitation. They’ve truly earned my trust.

Hometown Vet in Marshalltown is the only place I fully trust with my pets.When my puppy broke his femur unexpectedly at night, I tried the two largest clinics in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. One said they were too busy, and the other could only put on a splint until I found a surgeon. The next day, I called Hometown Vet. They got me in right away, and Dr. Jacobson performed surgery the same day. My puppy made a full recovery!Another time, my puppy had an ear hematoma. A Waterloo vet only drained it, which they said would solve the problem; it did not. I brought him back to Hometown Vet, and Dr. Jacobson fixed it completely.The difference here is night and day: compassionate staff, a spotless clinic, reasonable pricing, and results you can trust. Dr. Jacobson has exceeded my expectations every single time. I'll never go anywhere else for my pets!P.S. They are also the primary vet for my cat as well moving forward!
